Jasmine Romero Swim takes San Diego Swim Week—from behind-the-scenes fittings and a rooftop shoot to opening the runway on the waterfront

There are certain moments as a designer that stay on the wish list for a long time. Showing Jasmine Romero Swim on a runway close to home was one of ours.

San Diego has always held a special place in our hearts, so bringing JRS to San Diego Swim Week 2026 felt like checking off one of those milestones we'd quietly hoped to reach.

And the setting couldn't have been better. With the show right on the San Diego waterfront, the location was absolutely gorgeous—the kind of Southern California backdrop that just makes sense for swimwear.

But what we'll remember most is the energy.

Opening the Runway

Jasmine Romero Swim was first on the runway, which meant we got to set the tone from the very beginning.

And our women brought it.

Every woman who walked for JRS brought her own look, personality and energy to the collection. We didn't want everyone to look or move exactly the same. That's part of what we love about seeing our swimwear on different women—the same piece can take on an entirely different attitude depending on who's wearing it.

Then there was the crowd.

The cheering, the reactions and the energy coming back at us made the entire experience feel even bigger. Hearing that response while watching the collection come down the runway was one of those this is really happening moments.

Before the Runway: The Fittings

The runway is only a few minutes. What happens before it is a completely different story.

Fittings gave us a chance to see the collection on different women, different proportions and different personalities. It's also one of our favorite parts of what we do.

A swimsuit can look completely different once the right woman puts it on, adjusts it to her body and starts feeling comfortable in it.

That's always been a big part of the JRS philosophy. We don't believe women need to fit the swimsuit. The swimsuit should work with the woman wearing it.

Watching that confidence build during fittings and then seeing those same women own the runway was pretty special.

One Collection. Completely Different Energy.

We brought a mix of Jasmine Romero Swim to San Diego—from bold color and adjustable bikinis to our signature Fringe silhouettes.

Seeing everything together on one runway was a reminder of what connects the collection.

We love sexy swimwear. We love a little drama. We love color, movement and pieces that get noticed.

But we also care about what happens once you actually put the swimsuit on: support, adjustability, strategic coverage and a fit that lets you enjoy wearing it.

Youthful and sexy doesn't have to mean sacrificing fit.

And it definitely doesn't have an age limit.

The Fringe Two-Piece Makes Its Runway Debut

San Diego also marked the runway debut of something we'd been waiting a long time to share: the Fringe Two-Piece.

Taking the personality of our signature Fringe One-Piece and translating it into a bikini gave the collection a completely different attitude.

The new collection debuted in a classic, powerful Red and our signature Animal print, developed specifically for Jasmine Romero Swim.

Seeing those pieces finally moving down a runway after all the designing, fitting, sampling and refining behind the scenes was a full-circle moment.

Swimwear, Styled Beyond the Beach

This year, we also wanted the styling to tell a bigger story.

We collaborated with Cutie T, bringing boots, hats and jewelry into the runway looks—and the combination came together better than we could have imagined.

Swimwear doesn't have to exist only between the pool and your towel.

A great one-piece can become a bodysuit with shorts. A bikini top can become part of an outfit. Add boots, jewelry or a hat and suddenly the swimsuit becomes the starting point rather than the entire look.

The collaboration gave every look another layer of personality while still allowing the swimwear—and the woman wearing it—to be the focus.

From the Rooftop to the Waterfront

Some of our favorite images from the weekend didn't happen on the runway at all.

Between fittings, getting everyone ready and shooting on the rooftop, we had the chance to capture the collection in a completely different environment.

Those quieter behind-the-scenes moments are part of the experience people don't always see—the preparation, adjustments, conversations, nerves and excitement before everyone steps onto the runway.

Then suddenly the music starts, the first model walks out, and months of work turn into a few unforgettable minutes.

A San Diego Moment We'll Remember

Beautiful waterfront. An incredible group of women. A collection we were proud to put on the runway. A new Fringe silhouette making its debut. And a crowd that made us feel every bit of their support.

San Diego Swim Week gave us one of those moments where we could stop for a second and look at how far Jasmine Romero Swim has come.

We came to show swimwear, but what made the experience memorable were the women who brought it to life.

To every woman who walked for JRS, everyone who helped pull the looks together, our collaborators, and everyone in the crowd who cheered us on—thank you.

San Diego, this one meant a lot.
